2024.02.08 PHI Paragliders Safety Note - R07 risers |
hyperlink |
Phi Paragliders have issued a safety notice for all their wings using their R07 risers following an incident where a floating B-riser became detached in flight,
The wings affected include: Allegro X-Alps (now called Allegro Light); Maestro 2; and Maestro 2 Light.
Phi report that the Dyneema rope that holds the B lines in place broke, causing the loss of all the B-lines on that side. The pilot was able to land without injury.
Some riser designs have a backup strap that retains the lines at the trim setting but some, such as the Phi risers in question, have no extra straps. There are no specific tests done on this part of the risers other than the wing passing a load test. It is a timely reminder to check your risers carefully from time to time, regardless of brand. |
