Taking the first step.
The student certification course is the first step to becoming a SAFA-licensed pilot. The courses are easy and fun.
During a course you’ll learn the theory and how to handle your aircraft and the necessary equipment.
Why join SAFA as a member?
If you want to fly a paraglider, hang glider or weight-shift microlight, you must be a Sports Aviation Federation of Australia (SAFA) member. Under CASA’s regulations, we administrate paragliding, hang gliding and weight shift microlights in Australia.
SAFA supports members and clubs in the following ways:
- training and certification of pilots and aircraft registration
- Public Liability and Products Liability Insurance
- Liaising with related sporting bodies and international organisations
- Advocating on behalf of members and the sport
- Managing member records of skills and qualifications
- Accident investigation for CASA and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau
- Sanctioning of competitions as a delegate of ASAC and the FAI
- Administering flight operations to protect and promote safety
- Detecting and reporting of equipment defects.
